Guide To Clean Suede Couches

looking good sofa after house cleaning

Our couch is sometimes neglected during house cleaning in Marina del Rey. In order to ensure you keep your couch looking great, you need to know how to clean and maintain it since it’s one of the most heavily used pieces of furniture in your house. There is no denying the fact that smudges, red wine stains, food crumbs, and pet hair are all too common occurrences. You’ll never have to sit on a dirty sofa again once you learn how to clean up spills, stains, and debris.

No matter whether your upholstery is made up of real suede or microfiber suede, the key to keeping it clean is to use the right cleaning products and methods for the fabric. In this article, you will find a couple of quick and easy methods to clean the suede couch that you can easily do on your own without having to hire a cleaning lady.

1. Determine the Suede Type

Before you start deep cleaning your sofa, determine whether your sofa is composed of real suede or microfiber suede upholstery. Cleaning procedures will differ based on the cloth (and if you don’t use the correct approach, you could cause serious harm).

Microfiber suede consists of nylon and polyester fibers, whereas the real or natural suede is made from the hides of animals. The nylon threads in this fabric make it more resistant to both stains and dirt and more easily cleaned due to the densely woven threads.

Here are instructions from Marina del Rey Maid Service on how to clean your furniture properly on the care tag attached to your furniture.

One of these should be on your tag:

W: A cleaning agent that is water-based must be used.

S: Only use cleaning products that do not contain water.

S/W: Cleaning products that are both water-based and water-free can be employed.

X: Only use a vacuum cleaner instead of any liquid-based cleaning solutions.

If there isn’t a tag, go to the manufacturer’s website or contact customer care.

Always pre-test a small hidden area before applying any cleaning chemical to your upholstery. You’re making sure it’s safe for the fabric and won’t fade the color or leave water spots.

2. Debris Vacuuming

Start by vacuuming any dirt or debris from the surface of your couch, whether it’s natural suede or microfiber suede. Remove all removable cushions and vacuum every last trace of dust with an upholstery brush attachment.

Also, to keep dirt and dust from gathering, vacuum your natural suede upholstery (and/or use a suede brush to get rid of debris and freshen up the fiber) at least once a week. It only takes a few minutes to maintain the quality of your sofa during your regular deep cleaning basis.

3. Immediately treat stains

Sofa stains should be cleaned as soon as possible. If you spill something on your couch, the sooner you act, the greater your chances of getting it off.

4. Prepare the Cleaning Agent

If your upholstery is microfiber, you can make a cleaner solution on your own. To do so, fill a bucket halfway with warm water and add about a quarter cup of dishwashing liquid. Stir it as hard as you can to get a load of suds to form. (Then proceed with the steps below.)

5. Distribute the Suds

Dip a scrub brush into the soap suds (not the water) and rub the fabric in a circular motion to spread the suds as evenly as possible on the couch. In addition, house cleaning Marina del Rey says to blot with a clean dry cloth as needed to renew the suds.

6. Rinse the Suds Out

Put another bucket of plain water aside. Using a microfiber cleaning cloth, dampen the suds and wipe them away.

7. Fabric should be dried.

Now is the time to properly dry your sofa. The best way to dry is to open windows and/or use fans to speed up the process. Once everything is completely dry, brush and fluff the fibers using your vacuum cleaner’s upholstery brush attachment.

8. Consult a Professional Upholstery Cleaner

If you have tough stains on natural suede, don’t hesitate to contact a professional cleaning lady for assistance. The longer stains remain on your upholstery, the more harm they will cause.

Additionally, to keep your furniture looking fantastic for as long as possible, you should have it professionally cleaned at least once a year by hiring a professional cleaning services.
