In this article, learn from these House Cleaning Sacramento hacks to say goodbye to a dirty backpack and lunchbox.

However, House Cleaning experts highly advise checking for the label on washing instructions. Also, prevent washing your backpacks and lunchboxes frequently as it may lead to damaging quality.

If your bags belong to the list below, check these House Cleaning Sacramento hacks to freshen up your backpacks and lunchboxes!

Backpacks

Usually, backpacks are made from cotton. If yours is, you can simply use washing machines and gentle laundry detergents for cleaning them up. Check and remove any valuable things that might be inside the smallest pockets of your bag. Just do not leave anything.

Open all the zippers, flip the bag inside-out then shake to remove dust or any other specks of dirt. It is much easier to remove bits of papers when the bag is still dry as compared to when it is wet.

Got stains?

House Cleaning experts say detergent-water mixture would simply do the trick. Scrub the stains with a soft-bristled brush and let it sit for 30 minutes. Stains should be removed after washing. If not, do it again to the stained areas. Avoid using bleach as it can greatly damage your backpack.

After 30 minutes, wash the backpack flipped inside-out with gentle laundry detergent and cold or lukewarm water. Dry the bag under the sun while zippers are opened. Wait until it dries completely to avoid molds growing up.

House Cleaning quick tip: Fresh stains can be a lot easier to remove with a dampened cloth so never let the stains sit for a couple of days.

Fend off water and stains with waterproof sprays available in the market. For this type of bag, it is highly advisable to wash them twice a year to maintain its good condition.

Lunchbox

House Cleaning experts would highly recommend hand washing for your lunchboxes. Cleaning lunchboxes is easy peasy with these House Cleaning Sacramento hacks:

Flip your lunchbox inside-out, mix the dishwashing detergent to lukewarm water then use the sponge to wipe the insulated core of the lunchbox. Wipe again with a clean cloth to remove the soap. Let it dry. Once dried, clean the outside part of the lunchbox with the same mixture by blotting the sponge onto the surface.

Got stains?

House Cleaning experts say baking soda paste can make it gone. Mix the baking soda and water in a small bowl, dampen the microfiber cloth with the paste, blot onto the stains, let sit for 15-20 minutes then remove it with water. Repeat until you are satisfied with the results.

Get rid of the inky smell of your lunchboxes with these House Cleaning tips:

  • Flip the lunchbox inside-out then let it sit for a couple of hours under the sun; or
  • Pour 1/4 cup of baking soda onto your lunchbox, zip, then let it sit overnight. Shake off the baking soda right after then use a dampened microfiber cloth to remove residues.
